Let's Read the Arabic Newspapers is a newspaper reader which is designed to help bridge this gap of ignorance by helping American and other English-speaking learners of Arabic get started reading the newspapers of the Arab world. Although one cannot claim that articles from Arabic newspapers necessarily represent the ideas and ways of thinking of their Arab readers generally, one can at least find out, by reading the Arab press, what the Arab governments are telling their citizens, what members of the various Arab societies' elites are thinking and saying, what type of reading matter is available to Arabs, what their reading preferences appear to be, and what general political, social, and religious trends and movements are afoot in the Middle East and North Africa.
