قصة الكتاب :
The book is a very simple account of the first expedition led by Rae to chart the coast of northern Canada, mostly taken verbatim from his daily journal and navigational and meteorological observations. In so doing he was following many other explorers seeking to discover the North West Passage. Unlike other lavishly-equipped expeditions however, Rae\'s was a compact affair in which he was accompanied by a small team of men travelling on foot and in two small boats, aided by one or two trusted native Inuit Indians. The enterprise was financed and supported by The Hudson\'s Bay Company by whom Rae was employed. The mobility of their expedition meant however, that Rae and his men were obliged to live off the land, shooting game and catching fish whenever opportunities presented, and building \"snow-houses\" as shelter during their overland forays.\r\n
