قصة الكتاب :
A Geographical Account of the Countries round the Bay of Bengal, 1669 to 1679, by\r\nThomas Bowrey. Edited by Lt.-Col. Sir Richard Carnac Temple, 2nd series, 12, 1905\r\n(1903).\r\nThomas Bowrey was a private trader who had, he tells us, spent nineteen years in India and\r\nthe eastern islands. As evidence of his professional competence, there is included his chart of\r\nthe lower Hugli river. He also published in 1701 an English-Malay dictionary which held the\r\nfield until William Marsden’s grammar of 1812. His Geographical Account provides a\r\nwealth of economic, social and geographical information of the countries around the Bay of\r\nBengal, set in recent historical and political context which he learnt from Bernier’s work and\r\nother reading and hearsay.\r\n
